Stump grinding is a process that utilizes a powerful machine to cut/grind the remaining portion of a stump after a tree removal. Our stump grinder has wheel that has titanium teeth attached to it. Those teeth cut into the tree stump, reducing it to small wood chips that mix together with the topsoil. We will chase the exposed top roots of a tree with the grinding wheel as well, until they are about 2 inches below the surface of the soil. This will prevent any roots from surfacing and causing a tripping hazard in the future, and as we grind stumps, the soil is aerated by the grinding wheel. We will leave the grindings in a groomed and presentable pile on top of the ground area. As the soil compacts over the following weeks, it will sink down and create a level surface appearance. After a few weeks have gone by, the surrounding grass will begin to grow over the grindings. Seed can be spread to speed up the grass growth.
